I was downloading CS3 on my computer and everything worked BUT photoshop. All the other programs work but photoshop won't open, an error pops up every time. I even tried to reload it. Any ideas? Just thought i would try.

Is that really your first go at it? That's a pretty cool 1st attempt, but I'm not sure what kind of direction you want to take. I guess one thing you could try is cleaning up some of the dirty lines (along the arms and inside the balloon's eyes) to make it cleaner and add some gradient to the balloon to give it some pop.

Nice work :)

hey guys im kind of an amateur at photoshop. i use cs and im trying to change the color of some logos of some links that i have on my page (i.e. tumblr.,purevolume, and last.fm---you can see them on my page) and i can't change the colors. i dont know what i'm doing wrong bc im using the replace color function. whenever i open them in photoshop it asks me about using a "color profile" and i dont know if that has anything to do with it. any help would be great.

im trying to go for an overall color change like the links section on this page.

Don't use the replace color function. ;)

Instead: Image - Adjustments - Hue/Saturation. Adjust what you want. Check off the box next to "colorize", if need be. :)

I decided to attempt one of those mirrored headers. (I call them heraldic.) It's sort of my first try and I figured practice is good.

I think the B&W makes it kind of bland but I do tend to like a gray palette; perhaps some day I'll now why. (Why I like a gray palette, not why I think the B&W makes it bland.)

I wouldn't say I'm a wiz, but I've been using Photoshop on windows and mac for at least 4 years. I'll post some shiz I'm doing at some point...

the oppressed lesbian says:

I'm kind of photoshop retarded. The most I ever do is mess with the coloring in pictures, like in my profile picture. I also like to isolate colors (like in this picture) but I usually don't have to rely on photoshop for that because my camera has that feature...and it's a lot easier that way.

all the more reason to learn how to do it, among many other possibilities. My suggestion, just play around and see what you can come up with.

Arachna says:

when you're doing it in ph how exactly are you doing it, just desaturating it with sponge tool, or is there an easier (quicker) way?

posted Sep 1

kabel@FullSailUniversity says:

Probably by using Desaturate; here is one way to do it:

Make a copy of the background layer, name it "Color"

Turn off the "Color" layer

Select the "Background" layer and desaturate it:
Image > Adjustments > Desaturate

Turn the "Color" Layer back on and select it. Apply a layer mask:

Layer > Layer Mask > Hide All

This should mask out the entire Color layer use a paint brush (white)on the layer mask to reveal the portions of the Color layer you want to see.

Hey guys. I've been working on a new header for my profile and I'd really appreciate some constructive criticism. I'm not 100% happy with how it has turned out so far, but this is probably due to the fact that I vectorized a pretty bad photo (which is from a Daft Punk performance @ Coachella 2006). Questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome.
