Man, been watching a few Youtube clips and Hollis comes off as a bit of a prick in the interviews... I guess he's just really REALLY jaded / cynical about the media machine's expectations of pop musicians. But to an extent it comes off as if he was mocking his own audience. Hm.
Been listening to his solo song 'The Colour of Spring' a lot recently. I love the way names and themes filter through from album to album - after the album 'Spirit of Eden' there's 'Eden' on the album 'The Colour of Spring', then the song 'The Colour of Spring' on his solo album...
Are there any plans for something more from Mr Hollis? Not that his awesome output isn't enough, but, you know, I wouldn't say no to another album.
my older brother turned me onto Laughing Stock in the early 90's, it has been one of my favorite albums since.
i have gone through the progession of albums backwards ending up to their first The Party's Over.
i will admit that i find much beautie in all albums, even the pure synth-pop song Today.
The Colour Of Spring is an amazing album, it has emancpating momoents like Spirit & Laughing Stock, this album should also be considered in this discusion.
cheers

Laughing Stock gets better with each listen. There is so much space and beauty. It is easily one of my all time favorites.

For those in agreement that Spirit of Eden, Laughing Stock and Mark Hollis' eponymous solo record are some of the most beautiful music ever put to tape.
