While the term "post-rock" is, like just about every other genre label, a point of contention, I think it serves well to define modern music that is informed by rock, but not necessarily by the musics that informed rock itself. More popular examples are groups like Godspeed You Black Emperor, Tortoise, Sigur Ros, Trans Am, etc. Some with elements of jazz, some with electronica, some with vocals, some without, some guitar driven, some not, some with epic song structures, some with brief, all with some inclination to not just be another rock band.
This group is a spot for fans of such a critter in the Seattle area to meet and greet each other and local acts that fit the bill.
