A forum for all progressives who work for issues - not soundbites or 'liberal' cliches.
This is a forum for all people the world over who consider and work for positive and lasting social change. These are people who work for economic equity, environmental sustainability, and many other areas but do not succumb to liberal or conservative talking points. These are people who questioned the Iraq war but question the logic of pulling out as well, these are people who research issues and then fight through activism to get issues that are true, just, and right to become law, belief, and practice. These are progressives.
Sorry this may contain some "liberal talking points"
I am a liberal/progressive Anglican. I don%u2019t believe in an interventionist God, a literal virgin birth, etc. But I am Christian.
Anyway, I am currently promoting the music album I just finished this month. It is very political and subversive and at times religious - post-industrial rock with an interesting mix of classical instruments, guitars, electronic beats, and a dash of aussie hip-hop.
You can download the whole 11 track album for free at our website. It is released under creative commons licences, which means that you are free to use and share the songs with very few limitations.
CDs are available for pre-order at cost price.
Any donations to support high quality DRM-free cost price music are welcome.
As an example here are the lyrics to "DEUS CARITAS EST (God is Love)"
God is not a being up in the sky
Judging us with his watchful eyes
God is not a being up above
God is not a supernatural being
Interceding in human history
God is not a being up above
A spiritual depth to reality
God is humanity
God is Love
Myths attempt to describe an insight
Metaphor for a way of life
Our sense of wrong and right
Describing selfless sacrifice
Literal words simply don%u2019t suffice
So we use words like %u201CChrist%u201D
God is found in nature
Found in things
God is in every single human being,
Art, religion:
The Ground of all Being
Supernatural theism
And your superstitions
Can lead to fundamentalism.
Panentheism, mysticism,
Christian humanism:
My God is Love.
