Me too. =\ I had to join MySpace in 2004 to view pics of my friends newborn. It was frustrating enough then, but the page load times have only gotten worse. I have a lot of friends who post stuff on MySpace still, and whether or not I feel like logging in, I always cringe at clicking through 3 or 4 pages just to see if there's new stuff, or if they've logged in since I last checked. So... I'm working on this web-scraper that allows me to just see when there's new activity. I've got a working copy that I use for myself on my local machine, which I call YourSpace. It just shows me last login, current status, stuff like that. Takes about 8 seconds to pull and process 7 profiles. If it shows me that there's been a recent login, I go ahead and visit the page to see what's new. Otherwise, I save the 14-or-so minutes I would have spent clicking through everyone's pages. I'm releasing the code Open Source under the MIT License when its done, and also putting it up as a free service for browser-based access. Probably going to have a closed Beta ready later this month or early June. Anyone interested in trying it out with me? Message me on here if you'd like an account when I have the page ready. I'll post updates to the group under this topic as I work it out, too. I'd love to collaborate as well, if any PHP hackers out there are interested. ;] I have a Google Code project started up for it already, and will be uploading what I have so far soon. Toodles, David:.
