Forced to use MySpace because of friends?

Me too. =\

I had to join MySpace in 2004 to view pics of my friends newborn. It was frustrating enough then, but the page load times have only gotten worse. I have a lot of friends who post stuff on MySpace still, and whether or not I feel like logging in, I always cringe at clicking through 3 or 4 pages just to see if there's new stuff, or if they've logged in since I last checked.

So... I'm working on this web-scraper that allows me to just see when there's new activity. I've got a working copy that I use for myself on my local machine, which I call YourSpace. It just shows me last login, current status, stuff like that. Takes about 8 seconds to pull and process 7 profiles. If it shows me that there's been a recent login, I go ahead and visit the page to see what's new. Otherwise, I save the 14-or-so minutes I would have spent clicking through everyone's pages.

I'm releasing the code Open Source under the MIT License when its done, and also putting it up as a free service for browser-based access. Probably going to have a closed Beta ready later this month or early June.

Anyone interested in trying it out with me? Message me on here if you'd like an account when I have the page ready. I'll post updates to the group under this topic as I work it out, too. I'd love to collaborate as well, if any PHP hackers out there are interested. ;] I have a Google Code project started up for it already, and will be uploading what I have so far soon.

Oh yeah, in addition to PHP, I'm also toying around with about 25 other programming languages just as a learning exercise. Forgot to post the Google Code project:

I had to register it as "yourspace-cli" because the regular "yourspace" was already being camped upon. =\ That and my local copy is in PHP, running under the CLI. (Command Line Interface).

I'm continuing development on the YourSpace project today. Would it be important to anyone for it to authenticate to check friends status, like for private accounts? I'm trying to avoid that, cuz it would be a lot more work to code... Just seeing if there's any interest.

I've started adding in a grid of the status widgets, so I can get an overview from that angle as well. It works out nicely, cuz the only thing I have to swap out for each individual widget is the friend id value. Any other PHP programmers out there that wanna see/help-with the code I have so far?
