Dead is Dead

Is it safe to talk about the final episode in season 5 of LOST?

I have a few more theories but I haven't hashed out too much. I think more will come to me over the break. Great finale but the most dominant emotion I walked away with was disappointment. Not in the show itself, but with John Locke. I totally bought into the 'New Locke', I was 100% behind him. I loved his new found confidence, the way he was manipulating Ben, and the nature in which he made everything have a purpose. Then, I find out that it wasn't even Locke at all. He didn't reinvent himself. He just died. I should have known, they have been telling us that "dead is dead" for some time.

I think we all agree that the new Locke is actually the guy that was dressed in black, the guy from 'Deadwood'. I guess this guy has the ability to take on the form of a dead body on the island. Puts a ton of other previous events in a new light. Could this be why Jack and Locke have seen Christian? What about when Locke sees Boone after he dies? Or when Ben talks to Alex or how Mr. Eko sees Yemi.

All of these people died on the island (Christian Shephard did not die there but his dead body was flown there). To further support this theory, these appearances are normally accompanied with some sort of instructions. Locke was instructed by Christian that he had to go off the island and die to bring everyone back and Alex told Ben that he had to do whatever Locke told him. Both events seem to assist the agenda of that guy from 'Deadwood'.

Yeah, Locke was Deadwood guy ever since crash #2. Sucks. For four seasons, we've seen Locke struggle with his purpose, not being wanted, his dad, etc. Just when it seems he had found his way, they slap us in the face with it. He's dead. For reals.

Will be very interesting to see if we get *original* Locke back, when the timeline reboots.

P.S. I made this discussion "sticky", so it'd stick at the top of the group for a bit.
