How much confidence do we really have in Jesus? We say we know Him. We love Him. We trust His promise that he will never leave or forsake us. How about when we expect His help on a dire matter in a particular time frame, does our trust hold up then? Do we remember that He works in and out of time at the same time. The friends of Jesus, expected Him to get to them right away when they sent word that thier dear brother Lazarus was sick unto death. He did not arrive until after the death of Lazarus. As a matter of fact when he got to the tomb and told the men to open it they were in utter shock and said "by now he stinketh". Almost everyone in thier lifetime is caught off gaurd, with confilcting emotions when going through unexpected delays and lose sight if only for a short time, that Jesus is not distracted by delays and it will all work out for the glory of God, especially when the situation has been in the proverbial tomb long enough in the natural to have begun the process of decay and putrification. In our situations when it seems that hope is dead and buried, Jesus response to us is the same as to Mary and Martha I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. Can you believe for Resurrection of broken family relationships, finances, health, peace of mind? it will all work out for the Glory of God!!
The following song BACK TO YOU IN TIME operates on several levels first as a narrative song that drives home the story of Lazarus, but then the subtext hints at the fact that even now JESUS is soon to return and is not distracted by delays. As a matter of fact what we call delays in that context are actually the workings of grace giving us a chance to get our lives and the lives of those we love in line with the Word so that we can see Him in peace when He returns.
