The volatile sound of Guilt By Association started with J.D. and Britt Bouck, a singer/guitarist brother and bassist sister duo tired of listening to the less than genuine bands that filled the airways in the summer of 2000. They decided to take matters into their own hands by making their own blend of metal, rock, and hardcore. After months of writing and rewriting they discovered a sound they could call their own: rockcore. Stepping up to the challenge of fleshing out the band’s lineup, drummer Ryan Griffith and guitarist Adrian Boisclair proved to be the missing pieces in the creation of what has become Guilt By Association. “It takes a certain type of person to tour and write and constantly go in and out of the studio,” says J.D. “We truly feel we are all partners in crime.”
With the line up firmly in place, the band set forth on continuing to meticulously refine their sound and create an explosive live show, all the while working tirelessly to build up a fan base, dubbed the Inmates, from their hometown of Chatsworth, Calif. across the U.S. and beyond. Never failing to win over audiences with their signature showmanship, Guilt By Association’s live performance takes as much of a physical toll on the band as it does on the listener and their senses. Even after being on the road for thousands of miles, the cheering crowds make the band feel at home onstage. “It’s very exhilarating to hear the crowd screaming your name,” says Griffith, “You kind of want to run and hide but you definitely don't want them to stop.”
In a market where listeners are hungry to believe in something real, the band has earned respect while sharing the stage with some of rock’s best. From Motorhead to A Static Lullaby, Skid Row to Dillinger Escape Plan, Guilt By Association has quickly worked their way up in the hopes of joining the ranks of said bands, doing it the only way they know how: brutally.
And if you think you’ve got a handle on who Guilt By Association is by now, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
