PASTEL PRIMARIES!!!

December 2007:
This page is no longer JUST a dedication to my favorite colours...
It is now also host to my current Department Of Safety folio for application to their SPRING 2008 Artist in Residency program.

This Folio is an update of a previous AIR application i made back in March this year for the FALL 2007 period.

Updates to the folio are the first and last song of the playlist on this page. The first song is the first version of a song titled, "WE MAP THE COASTLINE." This is the working title for the project i want to produce at the DOS next year. (for more information...see the below blog)

The first version of this folio can also be heard at this alternate virb site:

D.O.S-folio #2

D.O.S-folio #2

The audio you will find on this virb.com site as of today (December 12th, 2007) are all songs submitted as part of my folio for applying to the Department of Safety's Artist in Residency program for the Spring 2008 period.

Much of it is excerpts from unfinished recordings of songs and sound peices that may or may not be used in the project i wish to complete as part of my possible residency in Anacortes. The two new additions to the folio are recent experiments with 'Garage Band,' recording software. I have been trialling this whilst re-building my computer recording world and searching for a tape machine. The first song is the first version of a song called "WE MAP THE COASTLINE." This is the current working title for the project i hope to complete at the DOS. The last song is an attempt at 70s horror theme production.

At this stage, i would like "WE MAP THE COASTLINE," to be a bunch of songs and drawings and photographs specifically about coastlines i call home (Port Fairy, AUSTRALIA...my hometown, and my possible new home of Anacortes). I would hope that by listening and looking at the work i produce, one would get a sense of the feeling of living close to the sea and falling in love with the coastline. The work will comment on the coastlines' changing and temporally finite definitions within our possible experience of them in one single lifetime. I will also attempt to tell historical stories and compare local myths and feelings from the environments of my home town, Port Fairy, and that of Anacortes.

Any photography or drawing work produced in this time will be used as cover art for the finished collection of songs to be released in audio format.

Both of these places are set close to the sea and close to my heart, and it is for this reason that i wish to undertake this project, with a mind to knowing them both better. And to create some songs, sights sound and music that others can enjoy listening to and looking at.
