Reason for change of venue
Things got off to a bit of a bad start this year when I got a call from the Village Hall to say my booking wasn't valid as there'd been some kind of mix-up and we'd been double-booked. After some frantic head scratching it seemed there were two options:
1. Try to get the Village Hall for the Sunday
2. Find a different venue for the Friday
At the time I preferred the idea of the Sunday, as I really like the Village Hall as a venue and thought the Sunday might be more viable for people staying over in Liphook after the Hampshire Jam on the Saturday. However, most of the performers had already booked rooms for Friday night and some had even booked them for the Thursday too and due to some strange conditions weren't able to change them and would lose their whole booking if they missed one night. So finding a new venue for the Friday ended up being the only option and in the end, after trying several other possibilities, the only real option was the Millenium Hall.
Ticket prices
The only problem with the Millenium Hall is that it is going to cost nearly 2 1/2 times what it cost for the Village Hall. At the moment I'm debating what to charge for the tickets and whether to pass the increased cost on to the audience in increased ticket costs, or whether to take a chance that enough people will come at the old cost to cover the hire. I think I might have to charge more, but I'm not sure what yet. I guess I will have to make a decision soon.
