About

I Am Heaven (1995-7) was a psyche-emo-hardcore band that came out of the break-ups of the Philly bands Frail, Elements of Need, The Gangplansisteele Quartet and True Hi-Fidelity. The band consisted of Brian Hutchinson (THF) on bass, Fred Coldwell (EON) on vocals, Mike Parcell (Frail, Mandela Strikeforce) on drums and Eric Wareheim (EON, GPSQ) on guitar. I Am Heaven occupied a sonic space similiar to such bands as Clikitat Ikatowi, Franklin and The VSS--they retained the urgencgy of the hardcore scene they grew from but were looking beyond its borders to indie rock, dub, shoegaze and more to create an uncategorizable sound. After their break-up members of I Am Heaven formed or joined Goodbye, Blue Monday, 12Tone System, The Science Of, Ink & Dagger, AM/FM and more.

I Am Heaven released a 2-song demo and a 7-song lp (which included the demo). The vinyl lp was released in 1997 by Julyninety5 records (Newport RI) in a single pressing of 450 copies. About 100 copies remained in J95's possession as deadstock and these are being re-packaged by former j95 owner Namdev Hardisty for a re-release on Hardisty-Disk. The re-release will be housed in a silk-screened booklet and be available for purchase in July, 2008.

This is not an official band page, but one maintained by Hardisty-Disk to discuss the I Am Heaven 12".
