About
Heartfelt is the solo project of composer, conductor and founder of the Music Population Orchestra, Brede Rørstad. With his diverse background, ranging from his training as a classical guitarist, to playing in bands, and to composing music for orchestras, Heartfelt makes it his task to attack pop music from new angles.
After Rørstad spent a few years writing mostly orchestra and chamber music, Heartfelt sprung up from his need to get back to playing music live. Conceptually, Heartfelt is a continuation of his previous “band project” - the 20-piece Music Population Orchestra, which he started in Portland, Oregon. Now living in Oslo, his ultimate and long term goal is still to find common ground between electronic/pop music and chamber music. In this process, Heartfelt draws from his classical musical training while embracing the aesthetics of pop music, resulting in what he coins klatronic music.
Heartfelt’s music is a process of evolution and with the help of a wide range of musicians, the music keeps taking on new forms and colors when played live. The music is never finished. There are as many ways to play Heartfelt’s music as there are different combinations of instruments.
