Black Figure in the Snow

There is nothing
quite as beautiful
as watching
a black figure
disappear
into the snow.
It's like letting go,
passing swallows
in a sky that has lost
its blueness,
sorrow wandering
with nowhere to go.
Never does a shadow
remain alone
because it simply
refuses to exist.
Ground and sky
furthest and nearest,
middle and foreground.
No sound.
