He also used some (downloaded) scripts, which I did not have. Some of my geometry wasn't matching up, so i had to just go with it. The material is just a preset so I could preview this thing. I'm not going near materials yet. That's crazy stuff.

I never thought I could do it, but I think I'm ready. I don't need to be the next best Pixar animator, just do some nice simple modeling that will help me when I design.

    I have some buddies in CA who are also designers. They've been trying to get me to use Cinema 4D. So I tried it out and it seemed pretty cool. I made this that first day.

    Then I got to talking with our (amazing) 3D artist Matt (at Rokkan). He was telling me to use another program for modeling, modo. I downloaded a demo and he made me a tutorial and gave me a quick overview. So I made a glass with some "coffee."

    OK, so it's not that great, but it was my first (real) attempt! Ha!

    modo really felt like something I could get into. The interface is really nice, customizable too. I got some other tutorials and I'm really looking forward to spending some time learning. It's pretty powerful too. Check out what Gelmi does. Brilliant!

    Maybe one day I'll get back into Cinema 4D, but for now I'm all excited about modo.

As I'm headed to the counter there's a little old lady just finishing up. She's turning around, very slowly. She veers left then right, hesitates and walks passed me. I start talking to the postman when she grabs my arm! I look back at her into those buldging eyes and she shrieks, "WAKE UP! YOU'RE GONNA CRASH INTO ME!" and scurries off like a crab on the beach.

    Now, one would dismiss this incident and think nothing of it. But I got scared. The way she glared at me was as though she was putting some kind of curse on me or something. I could hear the echos in my head...from Stephen King's Thinner, "Take it off? I neva take it off. I die wit it in me teeth!!" said the old indian of his curse.

    Yikes.
