Implosion Quintet

Implosion Quintet is nothing of the sort, being but one chap. A self-taught street-urchin, I cobble together tunes in a kind of modular fashion, a system that has developed quite organically over the last 16+ years. The everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach means the music is difficult to classify, (something which makes promoting it a challenge) but essentially it's a crossover that blends tango, rock, proggy retro-electronics and jazz. Basically a composite of the various elements I really love. Everything is deliberately lo-fi and unpolished out of choice because realism and good old-fashioned grit are unquestionably the way forward.

Iq started back in 2001 inside a playstation. Despite this rudimentary and hideously longwinded studio set-up, the new sequenced environment allowed the assembly of these disparate wonk-blocks into longer tunes. In 2005 some of the PS-era work caught Cookshop's ear and the subsequent release prompted me to stop cocking about and get a decent studio sorted. If you have an ear-wise of it all, you'll notice there's a big difference between the pre- and post-2006 stuff. The Werks album compiles everything up to 2006 watershed moment, and things have since morphed from a period of 60s soundtrack-drenched spy-jazz into the current schizophrenic beast you can hear on the debut-proper.

Thanks for reading,

Win yourself a free music!
After 2007's Shackle Your Rams EP was downloaded almost 4000 times(!!!), it's clear there are people who are interested in my stuff. Sadly I know not who all these people are and this must change at once. But that's good news for yous, because as an incentive to let me affix you to the sporadic IQ mailing-list, the first 100 people to send a blank email to 'twang at implosionquintet dot com' will receive a download link to an exclusive album track not on the CD! Wooooo, splendid bargain etc.! And, considering the vast majority of my music is given away for free, you're really just getting the odd email giving you something for nothing.

And please note that, as a person incensed almost to the point of eruption by fucking spam, your details categorically will not be passed on to anyone else and you can unsubscribe at any point.

Post-debut lull
It's been few of weeks after the debut was released and so time for a few related words. With a few exceptions the reviews have been very positive, and the people who've actually bought the CD have been vocal about how much they dig it. Getting this album released out amongst the general populace was a long time coming, and it's no exaggeration to say the responses really made it all worthwhile. Sincere thanks to everyone who got in touch to hurl fine words into my lug 'oles.
I'm taking a break for a while now, but will probably begin working on new stuff this autumn/winter.

             On the move
For those that missed the last update, the numerous free EPs hosted at archive.org have been moved to the new music page at Bandcamp. This means nothing but goodness for everyone because the downloads are far faster and the files are now also available as high-quality lossless formats.

Facebook again again again...
Still asking people to add themselves as a fan on facebook.
