It was in early March 2006 that I told my recruiter that I wanted to join the US Air Force.
The next week I was at the Kansas City military enlistment processing center where I had to take a physical. Everything was good except they said I had high blood pressure so I was temporarly disqualified and I had to get cleared by another doctor. Then I ended up having to go through a bunch of tests to see if I actually had high blood pressure (this took a few months) it was in Oct of 06 that I was clear to proceed at the processing station. I went back in November and swore into the delayed entry program with a ship out date of April 17th 2007.
On Apr 16 I stayed at the Mariott hotel in Kansas City the day before and ended up getting put in the same room as one of my friends from high school who happened to be shipping out for basic on the same day as me. April 17th came around and we boarded the plane headed for San Antonio, TX and from there we took a bus to Lackland AFB for basic training.
I graduated basic June 15th and took off at 0001 hours on June 18th for a 12 hour bus ride to Biloxi, MS. I was at Keesler training in Communications - Computer System Operations which is a 12 and a half week course but even though I graduated from class on September 25 I had to wait and get an appointment scheduled to take a polygraph. It was a national security requirement to take a polygraph for me to come here in this career field. On Oct 29 I was finally able to take my polygraph and I was able to outprocess Keesler AFB shortly after when I received my orders.
On Nov 8th I flew up here to Anchorage, AK and now I will be living at Elmendorf AFB for atleast the next 3 Years :)
