About

After more than a decade of labor, procrastination, and liver damage, indianburn was finally born via c-section in the back seat of a red canoe floating down the Delaware River on a sunny July afternoon...

Chris, Greg, and Barry had been writing music and performing acoustically on a shamefully occasional basis at backyard BBQs, backwood bonfires, and for random open-mic attendees for more than 10 years. Witnesses to these haphazardly slapdash events were treated to seemingly never ending sets of awkwardly dissonant, beautifully melodic, and painfully distressing songs. People were often left bewildered.

...Back on the river, Greg's younger brother, Markus, with self-severed umbilical cord in mouth, assumed the role as drummer while Chris put aside his acoustic guitar and filled the role of electric bass. They had now created the essential backbone of the rhythm section. Markus had never played the drums before. Chris had never played bass. The band had become a band. The four-piece now had the daunting task of learning new instruments and taking enough original material to fill a couple of wheelbarrows and bringing it to the stage. And that they did. However, with each old treasure that they dusted off and reformed, they discovered tiny little particles and ideas that distorted into entirely new songs branching off in twisted and uncertain directions. With their heads spinning in a relentless song writing frenzy, Chris decided to relieve himself of bass and focus solely on voice. Alone with a mic, the beast was born. Joe Cocker emerged and morphed with Godzilla. Bass responsibilities were immediately parlayed to the fifth and newest member, Jason, and the bands chemical structure took on an enlightening new element. While new to indianburn, Jason had played extensively in the past with Chris, Greg, and Barry.

Caught somewhere between the infinite megaverse and the rocking chair on a grandfather's back porch, indianburn sounds like a little bit of everything but more like a lot of nothing you've ever heard before... at least not in a long time. This is a band that plays whatever they want to and they do it well. Spend the time to get to know them, and you will begin to enjoy the magic that exists within their music. A six song self-produced demo was released in June 2004. A five song sampler was recently put out in May 2006 in anticipation of a full-length album coming soon.

Stay Tuned..
