Lizards From Afar: Way Back (Mr. Peabody) [Insomnia Radio: Daily Dose MP3 Blog]

"Way Back (Mr. Peabody)" is the newest release of Lizards From Afar. It's a guitar-driven piece of power pop that ought to ring a bell to anyone familiar with "Peabody's Improbable History," the time-traveling adventures of the genius dog Mr. Peabody and his boy, Sherman, that aired in the 1960s as part of the "Rocky and Bullwinkle Show."

alt Not unfamiliar with the nostalgia of going back in time to fix the mistakes of the past, Lizards From Afar first formed in 1990 in Bloomington, Illinois, USA. Adopting lizard stage names, and alternating serious music with comedy and music theater, the group performed in and around Bloomington before disbanding in 1993. Four members of the original group recently began recording again after a fifteen-year hiatus, releasing eight songs since the beginning of 2008-thus beating Guns 'N Roses to the punch and prompting one Lizard mockingly to dub the new recording venture "Bloomington Democracy," a title that stuck.

With its members now scattered from Chicago to New York City, Lizards From Afar records remotely, but final mixing is still done in Bloomington by LFA guitarist and lead vocalist, Chopper Newt.
