Born on the rice fields of Jennings, LA by the west bank of the Mississippi River, Jacob Zachary let down his roots in the fertile grounds of the Deep South and eventually learned of stories beneath the soil. His songs stir them out like snakes and spiders from beneath the cold underbelly of stones in a dry creek bed. Inspired by Edgar Lee Masters' epitaph poems in the Spoon River Anthology, the collected agrarian essays of Wendell Berry, and the prevailing influence of his church upbringing under the preaching of his father, Zachary is a southern poet, a truckstop storyteller, haunted by the Holy Ghost. Zachary got his start at an early age while living with friends and going to school in Virginia. He has since moved back home to Baton Rouge where he hopes to let another dream take root. An independent folk film project: a documented personal journey up and down the Mississippi River from the gulf all the way to Lake Itasca in Minnesota and back again.

Jacob -- Congrats on the Dylan contest! I have always thought your cover of Ring Them Bells is wonderful.
Remember GodSong? It's like it's your fate to come in runner up in contests which you should have won.
Blessings...
