So I've been hearing people talking... talking about how Seattle is the next Seattle. And what they mean by that is this: Seattle WAS 90's music. Every major US band that shaped the music scene (and the music to come after) in the 90's was from Seattle. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Mud Honey, Alice in Chains, The Melvins... People are anticipating that this is what is happening again- with Seattle bands like Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, Blood Brothers, The Postal Service, Minus The Bear, The Decemberists... etc coming from Seattle.
What these people DON'T know- is that Portland is onto something. They have got the new dance/electronic scene down- This is the new craze, the next wave. Seattle has a few good electronic bands- but nothing compared to Portland.
Portland has a lot of great bands- that aren't just electronic; The Shins, Yacht, Stars of Track and Field, The Thermals, The Dandy Warhols, Menomena, Sleater-Kinney, Viva Voce, The Helio Sequence, The Robot ate Me, Kind of Like Spitting, The Village Green...

I don't know...all I'm saying is- Keep an eye on Portland.
