Jacuzzi Berkley and the Grufundos Pumps were officially formed in February to take a shot at completing the 2007 RPM Challenge. The objective of the annual challenge is to record an album of at least 10 tracks or 35 minutes duration in the month of February. There are no prizes. There are no awards given for best recording, songwriting, or tuba solo. The challenge is a motivator and the reward is the ability to say that you've done it.
Not an easy task to start with, Jacuzzi Berkley made it harder on themselves by not even starting to record until February 20th. The reason for the delay was simple: they didn't even hear about the challenge until the middle of February. Once things got going though, they really got going and a series of marathon recording sessions ensued. Eight late nights, numerous Pizzatown deliveries, buckets of Tim Hortons coffee, and countless new swear words later, the RPM Challenge was completed.
Despite limited time for mixing and mastering after the recording was complete, "Rockingham" was dropped in the mail before the noon, March 1st deadline. While Jacuzzi Berkley was happy with the RPM submission, the tracks you can hear on this site have had a few tweaks from the RPM versions. The mix has been improved and the tracks have had a more thorough mastering job done. These are the versions which have made the cut to the final CD. For those interested, CDs will be available for purchase April 17th.
Enjoy!

Whoa, time for a new announcement I guess! JB and the GP are making another run at the RPM challenge this year but in a reduced form. Reduced form meaning mainly just me! So what does that mean? Well, first off it means there will be considerably less talent on this …

Floppy Jalopy, Apr 15, 2007:
Thanks for the invite. So much RPM to consume, this is the first I've listened to your tracks. Your songs seem comfortable and familiar. Nice roots rock feel. Great LIve Recorded quality, and the most confusing band name I have run into yet. Purple Monkey Dishwasher! -Floppy J
Osborne and Hutchison, Apr 13, 2007:
This is the best work I've heard from RPM '07! Consistent - excellent mix - just a great sound. WOW! For a boy from Maine and a visitor to Antigonish on occassion, all I can say is WOW! -Beakerboy
Bikerider and the Chinook Rose, Apr 9, 2007:
Found you guys from Kai Starr's page. I like the songs. A nice Folk - Rock Blend.

Have listened to several of your songs, and I like what I hear. The songs tell good stories, and each vocalist seems to help create a different mood for each song. Good stuff.
