Trust me, if you sit in one place for to long things will start to look dim. Yet for some reason we are all called to be where we are at. For much of life I feel like I'm searching for the ultimate goal. If I could just be doing this or that, then i would be happy/changing the world/creative/helping people. I was once told that God has things he wants me to do. Thats a bit much to take in. I mean seriously i'm from Crystal Lake and I am a privileged white American male. I think that we've done enough ya know. Then a little later on in life i was told that these things God wants me to do are not some distant grand future but are here and now, in the surroundings i find myself in. But what if my surroundings are suburbia, working a depressing job, hoping for the big grand future to come take me away.
Today my boss surprised me. I thought i had him pegged. I won't say as what but lets just say i'm a judgmental bastard. He told me he used to be an artist. Almost went to school for it in fact. He created, he creates. He gives beauty to the world or at least tries to point out where he sees it. Well he used to anyway.
People are always surprising. Somewhere in everyone is something so grand that it deserves to be shown to everyone else. I wonder what it would take to let it out
So maybe here and now isn't so bad. New life is everywhere waiting to be discovered. Its always given to those who search. I think Jesus may have been trying to say something to that effect.
