About

Toronto based Jamie Kidd is a funk and jazz bassist turned electronic producer and dj. His taste for the unknown and skills as a musician inspire him to take the spirit of live music and improvisation into every performance. In one of the most vibrant electronic scenes in North America, Jamie has quickly established himself as one of the premier techno, tech.house, and minimal dj's.

Kidd first surfaced from Toronto's electronic scene in 2002 with the Chameleon Project; a live instrumental breakbeat/ dub/ drum and bass quartet. Wielded by his bass lines, the group's hybrid of jazz harmonies and propulsive rhythms attracted praise from all parts of Canada. The Chameleon Project released its first album, "Stereoscopic" in 2003, and a year later released a 12inch with remixes by Kidd on Reptile Vision Records.

Since 2005, Jamie has released several singles and remixes on labels including Toronto's Thoughtless Music and Reptile Vision Records, California based Monism, and Halifax's Stratagem. In 2006, Jamie joined Frederik Hatsav to form Metalogic. Their collaborations have produced edgy, dynamic and highly rhythmic electronic music, releasing for such labels as New York's Addon, Brooklyn's Hidden Agenda and London's Perc Trax. The duo's 'Boxed and Warped' and 'Surge Stimulator' EP's were strongly supported by artists including Perc, Extrawelt, Cari Lekebusch, Alex Bau, Derek Plaslaiko, Tony Rohr, Someone Else, Frankie Bones, and John Selway.

As the resident for Platform and the Box of Kittens events in Toronto, Jamie has performed alongside some of the world's most respected electronic artists such as Speedy J, Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Trentemoller, Extrawelt, Rob Hood, Stacey Pullen, Alex Under, Alexi Delano, Abe Duque, Robert Babicz, Chris Liebing, Layo & Bushwacka, Tony Rohr, Dietrich Schoenemann, Samuel L. Session, Jake Fairley, and Gregor Tresher. A fetish for bass heavy pulsating sub textures, dubbed-out effects, and long teasing blends, Kidd hijacks your mind on an impulsive journey in and out of deep unauthorized darkness, and manic but pleasurable innocence.
