Climate Catastrophe Cancelled

I have been following the whole climate debate for a couple of years now. And with the whole Copenhagen event going on right now, the discussions around my friends and work place is greater than ever. I for one am a skeptic, now before you stop reading this and move of to something else. Hear me out.

I used to just go along with the whole climate change/global warming stuff because that's what I heard in the papers and on the TV. I would say I was in the majority on this, most people get their information from the media. I never thought about it much, until someone asked for my opinion on it. I said I didn't really have one. I had heard about Al Gores movie and bits and pieces here and there. My friend suggested I do some research on it and also to watch a video that he had just seen called "The Great Global Warming Swindle". So I did, it really opened my eyes to what was happening with the whole debate. So I did some more research, listened to climatologists and other scientist and decided not to take the media at face value on this issue. I was amazed at how many scientist disagree with this theory of man-made Climate Change. The main thing was, they had the data and the evidence to back it up. I also read some stuff on scientists that believed we are to blame and their evidence was far less convincing.

Their main argument was a graph of global temperature produced by a scientist called Michael Mann, dubbed the Hockey Stick due to the fact that the graph was pretty much flat or at a constant temperature right up until the last couple of decades, which (according to him) showed that we as humans are causing the global temperatures to rise at an alarming rate. The problem, according to other global temperature graphs, was they Michael Mann's graph had conveniently removed the medieval warm period AND the mini ice age that came after it. So basically he changed the data to make it look worse than it actually was.

Thankfully this Hockey Stick graph has been disproven based on the fact that Mr Mann took samples from 10 trees in the same area to get his averages. This unfortunately is not the way it should be done. So tests where done again from a larger amount of trees and the conclusion was the opposite and Michael Manns study was disproven. The problem is, the warmists as I like to call them, still use this graph, even though it has not scientific basis.

So, the fact that during the medieval warm period, Greenland which is now covered in ice, used to be farmed by the vikings, doesn't seem to come into the minds of these people who say that it is warmer now than it was before. I just can't understand how people can believe this stuff when the data is staring, no yelling at them in the face. The world goes through cycles, it has happened before and it will happen again. Hopefully next time, we as humans wont so stupid enough to believe that this hasn't happened before and we are the cause of it.

Which brings me to Al Gore, former vice president, multi millionaire and maker of the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" which sets out to scare people in to believing that man is warming the worl. So we have a man, who lives in a mansion, which uses more electricity than a small town, who flies all over the world in his private jet, telling us to cut down on our carbon. Man does he have some nerve. What most people don't realise is that Gore profits from countries that introduce a Cap and Trade model. Because his company sells those carbon credits. So basically, by getting everyone scared, paying more taxes, he makes more money. Hmmmm, does anyone else see the problem with this. How can you believe a man that is going to make money from all of this and lots of it. How can you believe a man that tells us we need to stop driving our cars, and emitting CO2 (which is not a pollutant to begin with and trees love it) when he flies around the world in his own jet. The man is not only a Hypocrite BUT one of the biggest con artist I have every seen.

Which brings me to my last point. Something that hasn't been getting much media play unfortunately. Something that has been dubbed as "Climategate". Where a bunch of scientist at a well known university who provide climate data to the IPCC have had their computers hacked and a 1000's of email stolen. Well, you say. That's not good and I don't condone hacking in anyway. BUT what has been revealed in these emails is what is astonishing and not that I was at all surprised. Email after email from the scientist talking about tricking data and hiding the decline in global temps and yes the world has cooled since about 2002. The head of this department has resigned because of this and there is now an investigation into possible fraud.

So we have a university that provides the so-called unequivocal data that man is heating the world to hell and a bunch of emails from the scientist at this university talking about how that can make it look worse than it is. I am amazed that the media hasn't reported this more strongly. The biggest fraud of the last 10-20-30 years. Come on, this is the story of the century. I do understand why they don't report it and thats because of money. In the great Global Swindle, all the scientist are accused of taking money from big oil companies. WELL, if any of these people took money from big oil, then it would pale in comparison to the amount of money that governments are putting in to this research. There is money in fear-mongering, the journos and scientist want some of it. But at what cost, the cost of billions of tax payers money going to support something that will have no influence of global temperatures? I for one, don't want to pay for it. Why should I, I haven't done anything to harm the environment.

There are a tonne more reasons not to support these people, including the fact that this will disastrous for third-world countries. But I am not going to go into that now. Just watch these couple of videos and see some of the evidence for yourself.
