This is about a dream I had.
Walking through the desert, dry but damped from sweat, parched ready and waiting for the skies to open up to replenish the dry, cracked, sandy land...
On My knees crawling, nothing for miles in each direction a bench appeared with a man on it offering water and a conversation. Would you talk to a man sitting on a bench in the middle of the desert? Forgetting I was on my knees, and rather parched I crawled on by, he waved me by and he soon disappeared in the distance... Day turns to night, longing to have a place to rest my head, I continued to walk through the freezing night. With every step I could muster too, I stop to stare at the skies. The Skies were opened, but not ready for rain, only the stars to light up the Night. With a Burst, that man from the afternoon appeared again this time offering not only water but a place of shelter with heat to escape the freezing night. Would you take the offer for shelter, water in the middle of the desert..? Again, I walk by, thinking I was okay and could make it ill a town arrived...
Night turns to Day, exhausted from the days before, Insomnia kicking... a rather disarray of images appear...Lost, scared, and lonely...I rest my head on a pile of sand that sort of resembled a pillow...wishing in my dreams for a water and a boat...but really willing to settle for a cup of water, possibly a bed, but not pushing it..
That man doesn't appear again for another couple of Days, wandering and wondering why He was there, in the middle of nowhere, miles from anywhere that resembled a colony...I began to think "how did I even get here...?" to my scattered thought and disbelief that I was indeed lost, that man appeared. Again this time with a map, a compass, all awhile still offering a cup of water...Would you ask directions from a man in the middle of the desert...?
Standing in front of this man, looking right through what looks like a ghost, in the sense that I could see through his body. He had this Glow, like lamps glow the clouds in fog. With his arm stretched out to pick up my body that had been crawling for days it seemed...I took it as he pulled me up He took his bench out and we began to chat.
We chatted all through the night and into the morning about really nothing, just words and sentences but all with that sense of feeling you have known this person for years and were just catching up on lost time...in the midst of it all he did finally asked, and randomly I might add,
"How I got here, in the middle of nowhere...?"
With hesitation in my voice...I answered,
"You know...I'm not really sure."
With much disregard of his, I asked
"How did YOU get here...? "
He answered with an afriming voice,
"I have always been here, roaming waiting for those who find themselves lost and lacking."
Sitting, without anything say, I stared...I stared right into his eyes and began to lie down on his bench. Before my eyes shut falling into sleep, he said with an assuring voice,
"Keep my bench. And drink my water, and without forgetting me you'll never run out with the morning..."
my eyes roll to the back of my head, but his voice still continuing in my ears.
"...with the morning you'll find yourself refreshed and quenched of your every need, for this I have given you with at no cost, just that you took my hand in the middle of your desert where no one roamed except you and I..."
He continued but I falling into a sleep, I couldn't make out his words...
I woke on His bench, to find myself in a garden full of plants, full of wildlife, full of everything I would ever need. Food, water, resource for shelter and with my awakening...I finally realized the rest of those man's words..
"upon awakening, you'll have everything that you could have ever needed but could never see to find. I have given you a map and a compass to life, seek me and I will guide that compass to work and guide in you in ways you couldn't have ever seen without me..."
With each breath I took, and every step I took, I would never forget that man who turned my desert into a garden. I was to never go lacking again.
Would you talk to a man in the middle of the desert?
This is about a dream I had.
