About

I think I have one of the most random portfolios when it comes to art and music. I am a singer/songwriter of genres ranging from gospel, to electronic, to '80s-style, to poetic/emo, to comedy. (I have started uploading music, finally. Enjoy!) I haven't performed much since early last year, and I miss it a lot.

I most recently worked in the administrative profession, which makes me fight issues of control, but I am also on scholarship, going to school for Fashion Design and (maybe) eventually own my own business (in the meantime, check out PickwickPortfolio.Etsy.com). Who knows? At this point, I just want at least a 2 year degree on my resume. My dream job is being part of a creative planning team (like designing rides/experiences at theme parks) or a comedy writing group (writing sketches for SNL or whatnot).

Right now, though, I am most satisfied if I have time for watching one or two of my favorite TV shows with my amazing husband, Bryce (http://www.virb.com/bryce). If I didn't have to work, I think I could follow a lot of different areas of interest (painting, petting tiny dogs, eating yellow curry thai food, hanging out with friends, burying time capsules, etc...)

We'll see what happens.

P.S. Regarding the music:
1) Please notice that the "Songs from the School Room Floor" album has a picture of a ghost on a unicycle.
2) '74 I wrote for my husband - it was actually made into a music video and I surprised him at our wedding reception in 2006.
3) Viva La Revolucion was a video series for a local youth group - both my husband and I (among other friends like http://www.virb.com/philshay) submitted background music for it.

Blogging Day 7 (should be Day 22) - The Wash

Have you ever had a good opportunity come to you, and then you did the math, finding out that it would be a wash?

My super kind brother-in-law had a job opening at his work, and gave me the inside lead. I got more info. It was part time, $9/hr, and a 70 mile round …

Blogging Day 7 - The Card

In the middle of our personal financial crisis, a card came to us with no name or return address. It had $1000 cash in it and read:

God knows what's in your heart
and what you need before you ask.
Even when you
don't know for sure, God knows,
because He knows …

Blogging Challenge Day 6 - free food

One of the things we've checked out since going down to 1/4 of our "normal income" was a free food program put on by "Church Without Walls" in Mesa. We showed up one early Wednesday morning, not sure what to expect. We got in line, signed in, then walked towards the …
