Let's get in touch with the environmental sounds that are part of our aural
experience.
Sounds can describe the functional relationship between us and the
environment, the sound context and the sound culture.
What happens when a DJ uses her specific language to build up a
temporary sonic environment with urban soundscapes?
Recognizable sounds, everyday sounds, urban sounds are mixed together
creating a new abstract decontextualized environment, in order to create an
intimate aural dialog with the listeners.
The result could relate with your own sonic identity?

Listen to the unespected sound atmospheres built with turntables and cd player using the "Aepfelzerstoerer-method!"
In the process of abstraction and decontextualisation recognizable and unaspected sounds will create a new aural experience.

Her peculiar sound constructions being executed with a stunning sense of form and focus which worked amazingly well. SHORTLY ABOUT JD ZAZIE

JD Zazie is Valeria Merlini.
After the degree in urban sociology at the University of Architecture in Florence, she recived a post graduate degree at the Master Soundstudies at the Academy of Arts (UdK) in Berlin.

As sound artist she has partecipated in several exibitions and events. Among the most recent once are Soundscape & Listening (St. Poelten, 2009), Wetsounds (London, 2008), Die lange Nacht der Wissenschaften (Berlin, 2008) and X-Sounds (Berlin, 2007).

As a DJ she focused on experimental electronic music and played in several improvised music groups. Recently she developed a field recordings based solo project about sound identity and everyday life in the urban environment.
Between 1989 and 2004 she produced many experimental music and electronica radio shows for the free radio scene in Italy.

As curator she organized the symposium La citta' suonante/Die klingende Stadt in Bolzano (2006) and curated the monographic number La citta' suonante/Die klingende Stadt for the magazine Atlas (2007).
Since 2008 she is writing for the web zine Digimag.
Currently she lives in Berlin.
