About

3/23/09 Months have flown by and very little has been done musically, I've been trying to write, but there's never time or space to really explore anything interesting, so I've just been working as I can find the time and space. I've realized I need to re-record everything because I got a better mic over christmas, and it sounds so much better that its kind of unbelievable, so, I need to do that. I also need to decide what I'm going to do with my music, because as of right now I'm just recording, but not playing out, which leads no where. My guitar has been on the fritz so its been very difficult to even think about recording because I'd need to invest in getting her back in shape, which will happen once I'm working for the summer and actually making money again, haha.
1/2/09 Over this semester I am going to try to re-record some of the songs that you've previously listened to on the demo I recorded. Some of them are good, but some of them need to be scrapped and just re-recorded from the ground up (especially "a Liar and a Fake", and Cynic's Heart). In addition to re-recording some of the weaker tracks on the demo, I've also written, maybe, four more solid tracks and am trying to work out a bunch of other ones, so there's some new material that you haven't heard yet. I got a sweet new microphone for christmas, which apparently "takes the blanket off the sound", which is currently my problem with all the recordings I have.
So, with all of that in mind, I am post a download link for the demo, because, I feel like it is mostly just an unfinished product, anyway, so I might as well just give it away for free, just so people can have my stuff, and enjoy it while I'm doing other stuff. I hope you enjoy it, and happy new year everybody.

11/16/08 I am playing a show at Lilly's bar, Friday the 5th of December at 8 PM (I'll be playing close to an hour, so be prepared to here my entire catalogue). It'll cost $6 and its a 21+ show. Get there at 7:45, just so when the show starts, you won't miss a word.

9/7/08 I am playing a show at Silvie's Lounge a week from today... the show is 21+, starts at 10 PM (so get there at, like quarter till), and costs $5.

8/30/08 Just to clarify. The version of On an Island is a different, and better, recording than the one I had previously posted on here. Its a lot softer, and a lot more.... aesthetically weighty. So, if you've heard the song already be sure to check out this version, because its a lot better, hah. Enjoy the rest of August, because its gonna be cold soon.
peace.

8/30/08 So... the songs I recorded are all up, now I just have to keep writing, find a band and start playing out now that I'm up here in Chicago.

8/23/08 I'm back up in Chicago, so I'm going to start playing coffee shops and stuff, so look out for updates on that. As for "Real Love" which is the song I just uploaded. I am a little hesitant to release it to just... well, everyone, because its so incredibly honest that its embarrassing. I hope you enjoy it... its kind of rough, so its not quite as easy to enjoy as the other songs which are a lot more.... singer/songwritery and just overwhelmingly more calm than this one. This track and "You're the Sun" are the weirdest of the bunch, but I hope you like 'em anyway.

8/15/08 Three of the seven songs are uploaded. You should definitely check them out, I'm really proud of them. Keep coming back, I'll be continuing to upload them in the next few weeks. Also, hopefully, I'll be playing in coffee shops around chicago, so I'll post that information once I have it. Peace.

7/27/08 Okay, I've gotten the 7 songs to a point that I am comfortable with them, there is no percussion, or bass, but they are a very good skeleton of the songs. I am just making a little demo EP of what I am able to reproduce on stage, so I didn't want to have anything too fancy on here. Over the next few weeks I will be uploading the songs, track by track, until all 7 of them are up. I'll also probably create a myspace page, because they, of course, get more people, because there are more people on myspace.

6/18/08 A song named "Soon" was finished yesterday, its very good, and I am very happy with the way it came out. Another song called "In Your Arms" is almost done, its just needs some of the vocal harmonies added at the end and then it'll be ready. As I said before, this is some sort of acoustic EP, or at least a demo of that acoustic EP. These tracks are proof that there is something here, that my dreams of being "good" aren't all just in my head. Once this EP is finished I hope you will enjoy it as much as I am.

6/16/08 Today I started recording what can best be described as a demo - or more optimistically as an acoustic EP. It consists of about 7 songs, of what I could, feasibly reproduce on stage at this moment (as I have no band), plus it will feature two covers: Recycled Air and Brick, both of which have previously been featured on this very virb site (both of which I will be re-recording with my current recording equipment, which is much better than the internal microphone that I used for them). Tonight I am uploading something I did for fun, there are other songs that I worked on today, which turned out really well, I need to re-record them, but they are good songs and just need to be recorded correctly.... definitely not my strong point, but I am learning the ins-and-outs of garageband and the recording process in general. So, check out Barbriallen, its a great song and I just hope that I did it justice.

4/25/08 I got a little creative on this very uneventful friday night and recorded a cover of Recycled Air.

4/20/08 Yes, it is in fact the national celebration of smoking pot, but, instead of doing that, with the help my handy dandy new guitar, and a little bit of messing with my computer, I was able to put together these two very simple new covers of two of my favourite songs. Let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy them.
Believe me, once summer gets here I'll have some real recording equipment, and maybe some more time.... or at least more flexible time, so I'll be able to write some more songs, and record in much more detail, and with more layers. So look for to that.
