Jeffrey Nelson

Acoustic / Folk / Pop

Brooklyn, NY

About

JEFFREY NELSON'S music could be described as nouveau-retro-folk/countryrock-pop ballads with an occasional roots/Americana or funk twist. No, I don't think that means anything either--I only said it *could* be described that way, not that it made any sense. Listen for yourself! You can hear a low-quality version of the song by clicking on it, or you can download and keep an mp3 of each song by clicking on "mp3" next to the title. (That's right. FREE MUSIC!!). Feel free to pass the songs on to others. Just don't use them commercially; they are protected as demo versions. Below are brief explanations of what the songs are about.

Thanks for stopping by!

------------

"I Only Love You":
As wonderful as feelings are, they won't always trump reality like in the movies.

"Good Horse and a Wife":
The American West has its own code.

"Cyclothymic Hypomania":
Even non-bipolar people can have mood shifts.

"Gravity of Love":
Love isn't just chemistry--it's physics.

"Beside the Ocean":
Good-byes can be as hard to say as they are to hear.

"Love Is Who You Are":
Talk is cheap; real love is hard work.

"Her Voice in My Head":
Some people have a way of getting inside you.

"Da Bidness":
Music-related industries, much like "news" media, are big business.

"This Bittersweet Obsession":
It isn't always possible to explain what we feel.

"She Throws Me":
A tribute to the chronically unpredictable.

"In There Anymore":
The eyes are the windows, to the soulful.

"Taste of Twilight":
Circumstances can make for unexpected conflicting emotions.

"Lazy Waters":
There is something soothing about the way mountain creeks gurgle.

"Rattled":
Part of being interconnected is sharing our deepest misgivings.

"Always Miss You":
Eyes have corners where old friends live.

"Undercover Hillbilly":
A man's background influences his approach to life.

"More Than Her Smile":
I have treasured memories of my mother.

"Newborn Lament":
Life-changes take some getting used to--even the inevitable ones.

"What If Maybe":
It is only fair to be up-front about what we do, and do not, have to give.

"Out of Nowhere Forever":
With proper work and planning, paranoia can be fashioned into an art form.

"Sail On Blue":
It's not that we're islands--it's all this water in between.

"Perpetual Disillusion":
Fixing my attitude is going to take some time.

Vectormonkey, Apr 11, 2008:

Whoa, dude! I really like the Hyperlipidemia song, very atmospheric with just the right amount of reverb.

"Over is the only way to go" was also nice, I'll have to give it a couple more listens.

"I Only Love You" wouldn't play in the web-based player, maybe you should try re-uploading. When I downloaded it and started playing it, I was entranced from the first few notes. Brilliant.

Have you ever considered music as a hobby?
