With a soulful voice full of attitude and touch of "Southern Belle" charm, Jessie Smith is a singer/songwriter hailing from a small town in middle Georgia. Before moving to Nashville in 2005 to attend Belmont University, Jessie sang and studied many styles of music, both in and away from school. Through her training, she found her niche. Jessie fuses country, soul, and rock to create a southern style that's truly authentic, and truly her own. Currently, under the direction of friend and mentor Joe Fisher, A&R Executive at Universal Records, Jessie has a new set of awesome material and is playing shows all over the country.
At age seven, Jessie started taking voice and piano lessons that spawned a near-obsession which continued on for the next fourteen years and counting. By the end of high school, Jessie had gained a good bit of small-town musical experience under her belt, and it continued as she began studying opera at Mercer University. "I would sing opera for school, which I liked, but I would go out and sing my real love - more contemporary stuff - when school was out." Throughout those high school and early college years, Jessie got a lot of stage experience under her belt. Among the shows she performed, Jessie was selected to sing at Atlanta Fest Music Festival twice. She also sang at "Freedom Fest," a concert featuring Jill Phillips, Shane and Shane, and Big Daddy Weave, and she sang at Bragg Jam, performing alongside the Drive-By Truckers. She has performed on the Gospel Music Channel, and she continues to be a guest singer and speaker at various colleges, high schools, and churches on the topic of body image. She is currently a member of the touring and hotel house bands, "Ten Most Wanted," "Blues Other Brothers," and "The Retrospects," while she remains loyal to her first love - singing, writing, and performing her own music.
