Have you ever come across a crazy lover? I mean someone who lives to love—someone so passionate about the object of their affection that they just overflow with love? When I was growing up I remember the “Say Goodbye Already” crazy love. My brother Chris is one of those guys who falls head over heals in love. So he would be on the phone talking to his girlfriend and it would be time to get off the phone so one of his other 4 brothers could call our girlfriends and he would just keep on saying I love you. We’d be like ok you love her get off the phone. But she would say no I love you and back and forth they would go I love you, No I love you…crazy love.

Another example...there was this guy who saw a beautiful young lady for the first time walking across campus. He is so enamored with her that he asks his buddy wow is THAT? Once he finds out who she is he says that the girl I’m going to marry because I’m in love. The guy pursued the girl as if his life depended upon his getting to know, fall in love and marring this young lady. It doesn’t matter that this young lady does NOT love him back he just keep on pursuing her day after day, bouquet of flowers after bouquet, group date after group date, letter after letter, until finally he wears her out with his pursuit and Rose finally yes. YES, ok JAMES I’ll date you…crazy love.

question…What do you call a God who
…is relentless in his pursuit of us—a God who just keeps on coming for us?
…keeps the porch light on way after we’ve taken he inheritance and gone off to party?
…continues to loves us when we have long ago denied, rebuffed, ignored, and blown him off?
…loves his creation so much that he lays down his life for it?
…leaves all that is true, holy, omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient behind in order to be in relationship with all that is false, dirty, and mortal?
…delivers instead of destroys, gives instead of takes, loves instead of hates?

God’s love is so amazing! It is so unbelievable! It is so radical! It is “Crazy Love!” That the Sovereign Creator and Lord of the universe would love each of us so deeply, intensely and intimately is an unbelievable.
