Brooklyn based indie band incorporating film and modern dance
Jigsaw Soul is a core group of 10 NYC collaborators working with other up and coming artists. Our underlying goal is to create an environment that occupies all the senses of an audience, by seamlessly blending film and modern dance with a highly emotive live music set.
Our focus is to produce performances and materials that meld the artistic worlds of live music, film, modern dance and other disciplines. Our underlining goal is to use music as a vehicle to bring other artistic principles (primarily modern dance and artistic film) to the public, whom would not normally be exposed to these art forms. We have a detailed plan and timeline to accomplish this goal using a blend of new technology, old-fashioned and online social networking.
For efficiency and clear direction, Jigsaw Soul is organized into different areas for each project. Everyone involved communicates by an online message board and meetings that accepts images and video to document all communication.
The members of Jigsaw Soul have been working consistently together for 13 years. In this period they have composed on more than twelve albums (Including Blac Ocean, Waken, Old Solar, film soundtracks), transformed a Times Square Storefront into an interactive art space for a month, worked with a philharmonic orchestra (Rochester, (NY) Philharmonic), produced hundreds of live shows (founded the Onechord Music Directory, which was the one of the largest in the world from '98 to '01) and worked on many documentaries (including Who's Children are These? and Messenger), and independent films (Death of a Gentleman, Year of the Fish). The members of Jigsaw Soul posses both an open, inventive approach to creative endeavors and experiences business skills to keep a project organized focused and engaging.
