Jim lives in Dallas, TX with his wife of 36 years Charlotte, and two daughters in college, Anne and Jeane. They have three adult sons, James, Downing, and Timothy. Jim graduated Memphis State University in 1970, received his Masters from the University of Montevallo in 1980 and his ordination from the Evangelical Church Alliance in 2003. He has worked in different aspects of ministry, from coaching at Christian and Private schools to directing the sports ministry program for 23 years at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas while also directing their special events. His work nationwide includes significant work with the Church Sports and Recreation Ministers, the Billy Graham Schools of Evangelism, Sports Outreach America and numerous other para-church and local church sports ministries.
For Masters Men, Jim is the Chaplain for the Unlimited Hydroplanes racing in the American Boat Racing Association, the unofficial chaplain to the Inboard Racing Commission of APBA and Chaplain to the Unlimited Hydroplanes. Jim has traveled since the 1998 Racing season providing this Chaplaincy ministry to the boat racing community. Beginning in Evansville, IN in 1998, he is approaching 100 race weekends by the end of this year. The ministry includes conducting chapel service, trauma response and counseling, and family building with race professionals on a day to day basis.
