Jim's Last Stand

Punk / Rock / Ska

Annville, PA

Billboard

Jim's Last Stand is a group of 4 who formed in April, 2005. The band's first practice was a month before their first gig. They played in other bands together in the past, including one with the three of them, formed about a year earlier. They have established themselves on the local scene and hope to gain more popularity following the release of their first 6 track EP.

Members

Jt
James Thompson II is the bass player. He handles most of the business. He writes some songs, but contributes all of the bass parts. He also plays the guitar, piano, and drums. He spends most of his free time learning new instruments or playing ice hockey.

Minkus
Kyle Winters is the drummer. An experienced jazz drummer who was corrupted by Jt and Double A. He attends college at Drexel University, and works full time.

Double A
Andrew Alonso is the guitarist, lead vocalist, and chief song writer. He is known for not thinking things through completely, thus resulting in hillarious slapstick commedy, which he usually ends up dragging the other two into. He plays bass, guitar, piano, drums, and banjo. He is ugly.

History

The Ska Era
Jt and Minkus attempted to form a ska band with Minkus' brother, Max Winters, and a friend named Jimmy Neidigh. The band turned out sounding pretty good, but due to complications in time schedules, Max and Jimmy dropped out of the band, and Jt and Minkus went on without them.

MCB
After a single practice with Andrew Alonso, they decided to bring Mark Shyda in as their guitarist, thus leaving Andrew out. They played a form of funk music, all instrumental due to the lack of a vocalist. When offered a gig with The Reagan Eighties, Mark quit the band, because he didn't feel the group was ready to start playing shows. A new guitarist was needed.

The AC Pool
The Reagan Eighties had a show at the local swimming pool. The opening acts dropped out, so Jt teamed up with Andrew Alonso and Josh Eiceman and played Greenday covers. Somebody said, "Hey, you guys sound good, you should start a band." MCB needed a new guitarist, so, it just kinda worked out.

Fantastik Mr. Fox
The first gig was in about a Month. Jt, Andrew, and Minkus got together about twice. They decided to go in a different direction, because the funk thing kinda sucked. Jt started playing a cool bass line that Minkus improvised to. Andrew liked it, so we sat down and wrote 'Poptarts'.

"What should we write about?"
"Were rockstars, how about sex?"
"No, chocolate Poptarts!"

The first show went bad, I don't care what anyone said, it sucked. But the group quickly got their act together. The Reagan Eighties named them 'Fantastik Mr. Fox' because they couldn't think of a band name. After the two Reagan Eighties gigs, they dropped that and went with 'J's Band'. It was fitting, because J did most of the work.

J's Band
They played their third gig at the Blue Moon Coffeehouse with I See Colors. After that show, the fans of the two bands started a 'war'. Pretty much the most immature moment in music history. Neither of the bands were involved at all, just the closed minded fans. Honostly, that isn't the kind of fans we want. People really need to learn to listen to other styles. But that isn't the point of this...

Robo Jim's Last Standing Seizure
A band called Robo Seizure hooked the band up with a couple shows. It was in this time that they changed their name to Jim's Last Stand. The band also used this time to start recording their first studio EP in Fast Eddie Studios in Hummlestown, PA. After Robo Fest in May, though, the band stopped playing shows for a couple of months. In this time, Jt joined a band called Half-Past Six, and also currently sits at the drum set for Robo Seizure. The band was not dead, though.

People From Ohio...
The CD finally got finished up in November 2006, when they played their first show since Robo Fest. The release of the CD was on January 6, 2007. It is now being sold for $6 at any show. Jim's Last Stand is currently searching for a guitarist. Also, Jt and Andrew may switch instruments on some new stuff.
