That's all very true, and I often find myself wondering about it... History "as we know it" is a very good way to put it, because remember, it was fact once that the world was flat. :) But on that note, if Caesarion wasn't Caesar's son, I'm not sure the likelihood that he wouldn't have been killed anyway... It's obvious they thought he was, and try convincing the entire Roman people that, oops, we made a mistake, sorry! He's actually this former Roman soldier's son. I'm not entirely sure they would have gotten away with it and been able to return to Rome, but I suppose that trusting bond between Pullo and Octavian covered that up nicely, didn't it?

That said, I do like the focus on the "everyday," how they used Vorenus and Pullo to show what Roman life was like, as far as current research shows. In all the Roman things I could get my hands on, I don't think I've come across another that has had that perspective with such depth.

Yes, big fan of Roman history, and so when I heard HBO announced a series I was very excited... I'm a little disappointed with the Pullo/Caesarion storyline, though, because they totally took history and threw it against a wall, then picked up only the pieces they wanted to pick up to create some kind of crappy, morphed version of history. A lot of people (in my experience) are taking this show *as* history, and I suppose that it's their own ignorance that faults them, but I'd like to have seen it end with something accurate.

Ah well, a good watch nonetheless. :)
