Music is such a unique way to communicate with the world. When you take ordinary words and put them over a melody, they seem to mean much more. Words that would usually be over looked begin to grip you. They get stuck in your memory. Things that you never thought of as extraordinary become just that when related through music. Familiar ideas become weighty conversation under the influence of melodies and rhymes.
It's as comfortable as that great chair in the corner, yet as stirring as your favorite book.
So I write songs in an attempt to take everyday ideas and relate them the way I see them. I love taking an idea and making it a melody, and a harmony, and an attention-grabbing song.
We can find truth and love and beauty all around us. We just have to see them for the extraordinary things they are. Music is the best way to do that.
