So here I sit, in a very comfortable chair, one hour before the time change. Or has the time already changed? One could make many deep metaphysical comments regarding the "is it not yet what it is?" of Daylight Savings time. Not me. I just know that at some mysterious moment in the dark hours of the night I will lose one hour of sleep.
Why do we do this?
All the same, I will force my clock ahead one full hour, at midnight, thus losing the twelve o' clock hour and plunging into the deep abyss of 1:00 AM. All of this so it can be light outside at 7:30 PM. I can't wait.
However, the advent of spring is a joyous time. Here in Houston the first day of spring is evidentally February first. That is not to say it has not been "cold" here, but the weather has been decidedly spring-like since that day. For me, spring brings with it new creativity, both musically and otherwise. My dear wife and I have many wonderful things planned for our home this spring, many of which involve somewhat intense physical labor -- for me. Something about insulating the attic to make our home more energy efficient in the summer months is very creative -- or I am crazy.
Musically, new things are beginning to take shape. Five new songs will make their way onto a new EP, which will hopefully be ready by the beginning of summer. I am looking forward to this new project, because it involves purchasing new recording gear so I can do most of the tracking at home -- in between home improvement projects, of course.
At a later date, five more songs will compose a second EP, which shoud be completed around the end of summer. I will also be re-releasing the Franklin House | EP this summer.
So things are progressing nicely, and work is being accomplished. I am looking forward to the coming months. Time change and all.
Until next time...
