John Roberts

Acoustic / Indie / Pop

Melbourne, Australia

Billboard

John Roberts, born August 17, 1989, is a singer-songwriter from Melbourne. He grew up in Perth's inner city. Roberts started writing music and playing at live venues and busking in early 2005, when he played for a 2 man blues band called Dakota 61. The band was forced to end when Roberts had to move home to Melbourne. It wasn't until May 2007 that Roberts decided he would play live again, after taking time off. Since, he has started fresh around Melbourne, playing gigs, open mic's, competitions, and busking around the suburbs of Brunswick, Richmond, St Kilda and Kew. He has also spent time working to record tracks for a demo album one song at a time. This has been a long slow process that will hopefully pick up.
Enjoy listening!

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov) Thank you for your friendship! Musical greetings from Munich/Germany! Feel free to download my music!

Cool sound, quite atmospheric, almost ambient really. Listening to "Scott's Song," I have to say that at first I really didn't like the out of sync downward arpeggios in the electric guitar solo, but after a few more times it just made sense. Quite nice! Keep it going.
