John Mary Trilogy are an improvised music group based in Dublin, Ireland.
The band consists of Niamh de Barra on cello and vocals, Killian Redmond on bass, Fionn Wallace on drums (electronic and acoustic) and keyboard/noise and Ed Devane on tabletop guitar, feedback and noises. They have jammed together on and off over the years but in autumn 2007 the members found themselves all living in the same city for the first time in 3 years and since then have been jamming at least twice a week.
The frequency of these noisy gatherings has led to the band greatly developing their style, which could be described as a box of nails, rusty strings, large intangible green objects and 3 industrial sized antiperspirant canisters dueling in a tussle of Guinness Stout fueled mayhem. OR as a completely improvised, groove-laden transcendental mess of beats and noise. Your choice.
The group recently had its first public gig supporting DJ Scotchegg, which went down well apparently. They would like more gigs before the rhythm section fucks off on world travels for the summer, so if you like what you hear, simply form a lobby group in your local area and demand of promoters that John Mary Trilogy are given a gig. If you don't like what you hear you can form a lobby group and insert it where the blah blah blah.
Thank you.
