<BR />About Johnnie Gee
<BR />
Johnnie Gee story is the stuff of which legends are made. It is a saga that began in America's heartland at age 13 in Milwaukee Wisconsin, where Johnnie Gee was born on September 29th, 1959 to Elgie and D.W Gee, into a family of seven brothers and sisters. When Mama Gee, herself a blues lover, noticed her sons' growing interest in music and performing, she devoted herself to the careful development of their nascent talents. Through hard work and dedication, Johnnie, Dewitt, Jerome, and other friends became ,The Exclusive Step By Step. The group began performing professionally in and around Milwaukee and Chicago in 1969; later that year, the siblings took their polished song-and-dance act to New York's famed Brunswick Records. The Step By Step Band turned the place out, winning over Nat Tarnopol. The staff reaction was welcoming , the founder of the New York-based Brunswick Records, then the most successful R&B label around. Captivated by what they saw and heard, Nat signed the group immediately. Thus began one of the most successful runs by a recording group in soul, pop, R&B music history.
<BR />
Johnnie Gee is currently back on the scene with his new 'EP' <b>"MESMERIZED"</b>, released September 2006, if you like retro soul, pop or R&B, music with a professional sound from a recording artist that still has original product selling thousands in Japan, China , Australia, US , The Netherlands and many more countries around the world, visit Johnnie Gee@ http://www.myspace.com/johnniegee.

Numero Group Release Home Schooled: The ABC's of Kid Soul [Compilation]

Hello Friends,
As I explained months ago. the Numero Group licensed my classic track "Time After Time".
Check out the reviews and press this classic is getting..

<B>MTV</b>
You know Michael, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Jackie, but what about Altyrone Deno Brown, Michael Washington, or Little Murray & the Mantics, Johnnie Gee? Home Schooled, the 16th record in Numero's library of the lost, looks at the unknown side of the early 70s kid soul revolution. Beyond the Osmonds, the Five Stairsteps, and the Brighter Side of Darkness lay hundreds of aspiring children (or parents) bent on becoming the next Michael. Numero has selected Home Schooled, the 16th record in Numero's library of the lost, looks at the unknown side of the early 70s kid soul revolution. Beyond the Osmonds, the Five Stairsteps, and the Brighter Side of Darkness lay hundreds of aspiring children (or parents) bent on becoming the next Michael. Numero has selected seventeen of our favorites. A detailed and photo stuffed booklet breaks down the history of the phenomena, while the disc straddles the line between historical artifact and wild mix tape. The popular Milwaukee band "Step By "Step", has one of the hottest songs on this compilation titled: Time After Time, you don't want to mis out on this newly released compilation, get your copy now!

This CD is one of the few items I know of that document this phenomenon. Unfortunately, while it can be admired for being adventurous enough to find the most obscure examples of the genre, these songs and artists do not represent the best of their kind as a whole. Prepubescent screechers mumbling lyrics they don't really understand tend to dominate this set. No threat to Joe and Katherine's brood from Gary,Indiana here.

However, this set is not a total washout. Some good kid stuff shines through on a few cuts. Patrizia & Jimmy's "Trust Your Child" is a tough and funky 1974 protorap about the generation gap, and the popular song featuring Johnnie Gee from the group "Step By Step", Time After Time sets this compilation on fire. Patrizia's sassy and confident vocals to some really thought-provoking lyrics make this one a winner. The fittingly-named Promise contributes the "pretty but gritty" number "I'm Not Ready for Love." Sort of a female Jackson 5, this song really conjures up images of the 70s for those who weren't there and fond memories of the era for those of us who were. You will find yourself humming this one to yourself all day after playing it. Get your copy now!

And 1000's of stores around the world!
