"Did this after I got home from a wonderful lunch with a friend, speaking of muses and not having time to draw. Soon as I got home, I needed to do an artpeice for myself, and drew this. The pencil sketch took half an hour. to ink it took an hour... I wanted a Michael Turner style of inking for the eyes and hair. Was major fun to do.

"My first attempt at digital painting using a stilllife photograph that my teacher provided. we weren't allowed to trade, so I used my graph drawing technique to sketch it out after placing a grid on, and went from there. It was a lot of fun to do, and I love it, however I think the next needs improving."

Only coloured it in to see if I needed to add more textures and such, which seems fine atm. I plan to re-ink it, then shade using colour, overlay, and then add the colours with values, and give the skin more tone and textures, such as veins and what not.. I also want to add a background and possible ice. regardless, this is the startin gpoint.

The end is near

I finally was able to sit down and work on a piece of artwork just for me of a troll. I like it, and i got to combine illustrator and photoshop stuff to refresh my memory on the programs. School has been good. I enjoy each moment and i am learning a lot, as well as making plenty of mistakes that hopefully I'll get out of my system. Each time I model, I enjoy it more and more, possibly because I am sure I want to be a modeler instead of an animator [since I was confused which I wanted to be when I entered school]. Last week of school - If i finish my body drill, and anpro things should be looking up.

Home is chaotic, since we are taking care of my grandpa until he moves into the Dorchester. He is blind so needs full time care, but is courteous and respectful of our space. I feel overwhelmed, and tired, but surviving. I am taking about two baths a day to calm my nerves and trying not to speak much since I am stuttering, but thats just part of who I am when stressed. The end of term has taken its toll on everyone, but I am hoping that some of my classmates pull through so we can be together for another semester.

My bed is beckoning. Sleep well if you are awake, and enjoy your day if you aren't.

Helmets, Hands, and Crocodiles. Oh my!

The helmet model I did took an extremely long time, mainly because i did not know how to approach it in a time-effective manner, as well as having the bad habit of forgetting I had subdivision on while modeling most-way into it. Hard objects are not that enjoyable for me, but I think if I practice even more it will become easier. I did two practices I did (I did a third but never finished, due to bad habits), and decided to post them, if for anything but humour purposes. The first one I did is quite obvious... and while I am embaressed of it, it sure does show what practice can evolve into.

The Hand I extremely enjoyed, as I love anatomy. I believe I have a basis down for the structure but it stills needs work as far as the bone and muscle underneath, which is a little exagerated and inaccurate in my opinion. Still, the palm and upper part of the hand is the best features of the finished model - the fingers though, while passable, I know I could have done a better job on them to make them not as squared and have used edge looping more effectively around the knuckles. The age of the hand seems older then what i originally intended, and i believe that if I was more careful around the wrinkles around the joint, it would make it seem more like normal flesh instead of just something seen as a simple bulge.

For my demo reel creature, I plan on doing an ancient crocodile dinosaur during its evolution from fish to croc. I have found different kinds of dinosaurs during this evolution period, as well as prehistoric fish that i plan on using. I'll post progresses on those as they come.
