Jonathan McCarthy released his debut EP in September of 2007. After his release he has been featured on various indie sites such as "indie-music.com" being a featured artist of October 2007, and climbing the pop charts where two of his songs were at #1 and #2 for over a month. The same two songs rose together in the overall charts to reach the #2 and #3 spots and stayed in the top 10 overall charts for over a month. He has also been featured in the top ten of the pop charts on "ourstage.com" for November and December of 07 after climbing from the 512th spot in October of 07.
McCarthy's influences in music definitely reflect a European Rock/Pop sound, however he definitely brings an original sound to the table. All the songs on the Escape From Me EP are originals that have been written by McCarthy. The album was recorded in the Washington DC area. The album was produced/engineered by Paul Barber of Eleven Eleven Studios. The album was recorded at Eleven Eleven Studios, Brown Dog Studios, and Dapple Studios. The album was mixed and mastered by Tony Alany. The programming and keyboards were done by Jonathan McCarthy. The electric guitar work was done by Mark Williams. The acoustic guitar work was done by Paul Barber. The bass guitar work was done by Kevin MacIntire. The drums were done by Chris Barret.
