My name is Jon Cheese I was born on a very hot day in July of 1977 in White Plains, N.Y. I lived in Yonkers, N.Y till I was 13 and then I moved to Dover, N.J. where I lived for my 4 high school years… (Morris Knolls High School) after I graduated in June of 95’ I worked at the California Pizza Kitchen as a host for about 6 months then I quit and my dad helped get me a temporary job installing computer monitors and installing TV’s at the Fox News Channel in Manhattan… after they were up and running they needed people to run the Teleprompters… so from October 1996 to January 1999 I worked as a teleprompter operator, stage manager and Videotape playback operator at the Fox News Channel…. I was making great money meeting famous people and got to be on Television all while I was in my very early 20’s it was great but something wasn’t right I had to wake up at 3:30 in the morning cause I had to be at work at 5 A.M. every day, I worked on the show Fox & Friends…. I never got to hang out and was tired all the time… on my 21st birthday I crashed my car… didn’t have a sip of alcohol in me ( I was nailed to the X till I was 22) but I was so tired I fell asleep and crashed my car… at the time I was living at my first apartment in Boonton N.J. trying to decide if I was ready to be an adult in N.Y.C. or hang out and go to shows and hold on to my youth where I went to High school back in Jersey… while working at Fox I took some time off for two weeks and traveled across the country…. Destination unknown, Rancid style, and I loved it… so around the fall of 98 I was getting really burned out at my work I wasn’t ready to be an adult but I was living an adult lifestyle… working all week and living for the weekend…. So in February of 1999 I went on a semester course on outward bound… an outdoor survivalist camp… for 3 months… for a month and a half I has in northern Maine… mind you it was northern Maine in February so it was COLD…. But while I was there I went dog sledding, Ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and well we lived in the woods in Maine for a month and a half…. We didn’t even have water, we would gather snow melt it, boil it and then cool it off and drink it… it was amazing… then we went off the coast of Florida and lived on a boat around Key West and sailed around for 45 days going snorkeling and meeting old Ernest Hemmingway hermit types… needless to say it was kind of life changing… after coming home I realized that there was no way I was going back to work at Fox… so I traveled across the country again but because I didn’t have work holding me back I was gone for like 2 months… during the summer months of 99 and then again in October of 99 around that time a bunch of my friends from N.J. had moved to Boston, Massachusetts I didn’t have much going on in N.Y. anymore and most of my Jersey Friends had moved to Boston so I decided that Boston was going to be my new home as well…. I lived there for two years, working at Museums, Restaurants, and over night at a convenience store ( I was only there for a week and a half, I got fired cause my friends would come in and they would get like 3 bags worth of groceries and I would only charge them $1.34 or so) summer of 2001 was named “the summer of fun” I had a 1995 Geo Prism that I would beat the shit out of… I spray painted it and would run over curbs and I tore the interior out… it was the best car ever named “The Fastest Car in Boston” in July of 2001 My best Friend, Bryan Sheffield and I got some bikes and headed over to Europe… we didn’t stay in any hotels or hostels we biked all across Europe and stayed every night in a 2 person tent… not taking a single train… it was amazing… and I hope I get to do it again someday… we biked all thru the Netherlands and western Germany, Belgium and France…. With lots of adventures and stories along the way…. We went Skydiving on Sept. 10th 2001 at an old run down U.S. army base… we didn’t find out about Sept. 11th till Sept. 13th…. But because of Sept. 11th our trip was cut short as our parents were concerned for our safety and wanted us home so a week later we flew home…. I went back to Boston to find out it had changed… I didn’t have a job, and no place to live and most of my friends had moved away…. I was there for about a month going to the library or sitting in the park or just walking around, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do… I called up my friend Jessica who lived in Orlando and told her there was nothing left in Boston and she told me to come to Orlando…. I was on Newberry St. when it happened sitting on the curb right by Newberry Comics… I asked her if she was serious and she said yeah so an hour later I was on a greyhound bus on the way to Orlando…. I stayed there for about 2 months when I realized I didn’t want to make Orlando my new home… so I put my Tail between my legs and went back to my parents house… in Yonkers N.Y. I was home for a month before I called up Fox News to see if they would take me back… they did and I picked up right where I left off 2 and a half years before…. Eventually I started working at the YES Network as well (The Yankee Entertainment and Sports Network) I moved to Union City, N.J. into this Apt. with an Amazing View of N.Y.C. and an insane strange roommate who had posters all over of Disney movies and life sized star wars action figures in his room…. For about 4 months I was waking up at 3:30 in the morning to be at work in Manhattan at 5:00 I would get done at 1:00 P.M. and have to be at work at the Yes Network in Stanford, CT. at 2:00 and work till Midnight….I was working 18 hour days and would do this 5 and sometimes 6 days a week… trying to save money…. For no other reason then to save money….I bought a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta to go with my new life style and all kinds of new clothes…. At some point I moved to New Haven Ct. and would go to the local bar there on the weekends… I only lived there for 6 months or so…. Around May of 2002 my friend Bryan, who had become the Label Manager for Doghouse Records, asked me if I wanted to be a label Representative on the Vans Warped tour…. I told him I couldn’t because I had a job and there was no way I could take off for 2 months of work… (at the time all I got was 2 and a half weeks a year) he told me to think about it and I did and I was like ok let’s see where this takes me… I had left Fox and was only working at the Yes Network so I asked them for some a leave of Absences they agreed and I went on the 2002 Warped tour working for Doghouse records… when the tour was over I went back to work and was only there for a week or so when I said “Fuck Work, I don’t ever want to work again” and so I quit and called up some friends of mine who were from Boston who knew the guys in the band Piebald… after pleading with them to take me out the finally agreed and I started this part of my life… one thing led to another and I have sold Merch for or tour managed the following bands: Piebald, Cave-In, My Chemical Romance, Apollo Sunshine, Limbeck and The Honorary Title and I discovered Meg & Dia. I’ve also worked on the warped tour from 2002 – 2005…. And now here I am in Atlanta Georgia on August 2, 2005 on a day off on the Warped tour about to go do laundry …..who knows what will comes next…. I’ve stopped worrying about the future… everything always works out… we only have one life to live and I decided to make the most of it …
