Jon Kaplan began his music career as many producers have, learning John Paul Jones licks in his Long Island bedroom. Formative years playing in a slew of poorly named bands throughout high school and college led to a storied tenure with Atlantic Recording artist, The Hatters.
Eight hundred shows, four years, and three albums later, Jon decided he had visited enough truck stops and landed a job at the world class Right Track Recording studio (Metallica, Hole, The Neptunes) in New York City.
After two years there, Jon went off on his own as a Pro Tools editor for the likes of Phil Ramone, Frank Filipetti, The Track Masters, and Neil Dorfsman. Jon would go on to make several records with Neil as both an editor and co-producer.
In 2001, Jon partnered with A&R man Peter Robinson at Dumbo Studios in NYC where he produced, engineered and mixed records for a wide range of major-label and independent artists.
Currently, Jon is working at his own studio in Chelsea, splitting his time between full productions and mixing. Adaptability seems to be the new black, and Jon is invisible in the dark.
