this friday - april 20th - alex, rachel, erica and I were faced with a question - what to do on a typical friday evening? go to a bar and spend money on alchohol, rent a movie, watch a movie at the theatre, and many other possibilities. other questions arose such as, what would you do if this were the last day of your life? i'd fly to paris and spend the day making the last photographs of my life, those of which I would send to an art buyer or gallery owner to put up as a show.

after much deliberation, we decided that this evening shouldn't be the same as any other evening. rachel suggested that we get tattoos. we all immediately jumped on that, as we all have been planning to get tattoos soon. alex and rachel were to get a gothic "G" for gutierrez, and erica wanted a sparrow, and I wanted a camera. so we checked to see if anyone was open, to find to our surprise and excitement that chicago tattoo on belmont was open until 12. i grabbed a page from the user manual of my hasselblad xpan, and my camera and we left.

i had the hasselblad logo enlarged and drawn into an outline, while erica picked out a little bird to get tattooed. alex and rachel looked for G's to get tattoos of. after a little convincing and decision making of places to get hers, rachel, alex and I convinced erica that it was the right time to get it done. so while I got a hasselblad tattooed on the back of my right arm, erica got a sparrow tattooed on the left side of her ribs.

it was a great evening, and i couldn't be more thrilled with how the camera looks. erica's bird is adorable and couldn't be better. alex and rachel, due to not being able to find the right G, didn't get anything done. the plan is now to go next friday to get rachel and alex tattooed with some real mexican looking G's.
