About
I'm a composer currently studying music composition at SUNY Fredonia in the School of Music. My primary instrument is piano, but I sing and play percussion as well. Over the last four years or so, I studied composition in my hometown of Rochester, NY under the tutelage of Nancy Strelau through the Hochstein School of Music and Dance (an offshoot of The Eastman School of Music). I'm a graduate of the honor's certificate program that was offered there in composition. Thus far, I've composed pieces for both the concert stage and media (including short films and a TV show, which I will talk about later. . .) I also played percussion in the Hochstein Percussion Ensemble and the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra. Both of these ensembles each premiered one of my original compositions. My first symphonic tone poem "Love and War" was premiered by the HYSO in May of 2008. In March of 2009, my composition for percussion ensemble "Wind Up" was performed by the Hochstein Percussion Ensemble under the baton of the Rochester Philharmonic's Jim Tiller.
My first film score was completed in 2008 for the High Falls Film Festival. The film was called "Remembering to Forget" and was directed by RIT's Jennie Brodka. It won first place in the sOfa section of the festival. I also scored three episodes of the television show "7th Street Theater" for director Dave Christiano. The episodes aired on TBN, JCTV and Cornerstone Network as well as a few others. I also have an upcoming project with composer and orchestrator Philip Klein (co-orchestrator on the feature films The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Tale of Desperaux).
Over the summer, I write and perform music for vocals and piano in the Rochester area. This summer, I'll be performing with local cellist Paul Watrobski at casual venues. I'll be sure to post the dates as soon as we begin playing out.
