Hollywood. The land of the surreal. The land of "dreams". I have finally made it down to this foreboding land. The move went fine except for some unexpected changes. I journeyed down here on Sunday hoping to be accompanied by my good friend Wil (who's aunts house is my new residence), instead I found myself alone due to the fact that Wil's been having some car troubles. "Aunt Alice" is a very nice woman probably in here 50's. She lives alone except for a recent addition to here home, her dog Rocky, who is a large long haired shaggy thing that is friendly but also can test your patience. Aunt Alice made me feel right at home and showed me the room in which id be staying in during my time here. The freshly painted pink walls give the room a soft glow but you forget about them after a while ha ha. The bed I find myself is magical, but again too magical. It begins to absorb you when you sleep, this is not all that bad but with the warm weather it becomes stiflingly hot. Sleep has been difficult but hey at least its not the floor. My first full day I spent scoping and exploring the area that I am residing in. I live in Northridge which gives me about a 20mile commute to work. Depending on the time of day and traffic I can make it to work in 20min, or as long as an hour and fifteen (hopefully that's the longest it'll take).
I work for Tribune Studios located right in the heart of West Hollywood. My first day I was rather nervous but new I could handle the tasks at hand. Because I'm an intern I will be given the opportunity to help in several different departments. So far I've worked with the casting crew helping escort guest who are auditioning for the game show, and I've got to help out with some set up for the run-through of the show. The show is called Merv Griffin's Crosswords, it's kinda like a Jeopardy but a little easier and the whole thing revolves around crosswords. I'm not really at liberty to discuss much else. The people I work with are so great though. Everyone is really laid back and chill. Most of them say they've never worked on a crew like this and that it's really rare to get a group like this. I have only worked three days so I don't have a whole lot to report but I enjoy the work oh and yeah so going into this I was told it was an unpaid internship, when I arrived though I found out the budget has been adjusted and even interns are getting paid! What a blessing it was to find that out. It's only min. wage but anything when you expect nothing is so awesome.
Everything down here is way more intense. Costco has guards and a gate into the parking lot, my bank requires that you go through two sets of security doors that only allow one person at a time. Lots and lots of people + Lots and lots of cars +Lots and lots of traffic = gross dirty haze. It's amazing how much we take for granted. I am starting to feel a little lonely because I havn't hung out with any friends or anything and coming home from work its real quite. Wil was supposed to be here long ago but his car is still not functioning correctly and its just been lots of time alone. Right now I'm chilling in star bucks trying to just get out of the house for a change. I'm excited about tomorrow though cause I'm going to see Scott in Brentwood and that should be, will be a good time. Hopefully Wil will make it down here and give me some more company. So yeah that is the current 411. I miss the chaotic family and friends but know things will pick up soon.
