Tomorrow I finish a 31 day fast... 31 days in July. No food, just water, juice and some milk. Not my first fast, won't be my last. This fast inspired by my friend Stephen. He asked if I would join him and I said absolutely. I decided before the 31 days I would be thanking God for my new kids, three of em if ya didn't know. My wife and I are in the middle of adopting three great kids... 2, 4 and 7 they have been with us for 8 months now... so this fast was a big thank you.
I am tremendously ready to eat tomorrow and frankly cant wait, by the way...
It was a good 31 days. Filled with me watching my kids and my kids watching me and them asking "Why aren't you eating Daddy?" and I would say "Because I am thanking God for you." Yesterday my 7 year old daughter Mia looked at me while we were at the dinner table. I was drinking juice, she was eating chicken and again she asked "Why are you fasting Daddy?" and again I said I'm thanking God for you." She paused this time, smiled looked at her plate looked back up at me and said I'm gonna fast because I want to thank God for you Daddy."...
God answered my fast yesterday in the voice of a seven year old girl. It was awesome! I can ask for nothing more, I will of course but right now I am in place I will remember, a place where listening is key and responding means gratitude for all He has given me... it'll change tomorrow when I stuff my face with pizza but for now... it's all good.
