Dear BP,
Thank you for considering Lake Michigan as a prime candidate for toxic waste dumping. We are honored by your high opinion of our state.
Although flattered by your evidently favorable opinion of Michigan, I prefer not to swim in ammonia and sludge this summer when I go to Grand Haven, in spite of the fact that I do not generally get in the water while at the beach. Relatively speaking, this is of little importance.
If I were interested in ammonia, sludge, and other toxic materials, I could go to my hometown, where I lived on an island surrounded by the Detroit River. I am familiar with this kind of water.
Have you seen Gary, Indiana lately? We are terrified of looking like it.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Julie Belle
Really though...
You can help petition the dumping of toxic waste into Lake Michigan by going here. It will take you a few seconds and will definitely be worth it.
